New Joint Task Force Commander In The Niger Delta Promises Oil Thieves ‘No Mercy, Tough Time’

The operatives of Joint Task Force nicknamed ‘Operation Delta Safe’ say the task force stationed in the Niger Delta will show no mercy for oil thieves and other criminals in the region.

Speaking on Sunday during the handover ceremony at the headquarters of the OPDS, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, Real Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade, the new Commander of ODD who took over from Real Admiral Apochi Suleiman, promised criminal elements in the region that tough time awaits them.

“JTF Operations Increases Oil Production Output To 2m Barrel Per Day”

Authorities of the Joint Task Force (JTF) code named Operation Delta Safe, a special security outfit, fighting criminalities in the Niger Delta region, weekend disclosed that some of its operations led to a huge increase of daily oil production from 900bpd to over two million currently being explored in the region.

The Commander of the JTF, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), Rear Admiral Suleiman Apochi, who made this at the weekend in Yenagoa while receiving an award of excellence from the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), inoted that when he took over more than two years ago, militancy and vandalism had cut oil production by about a third.

Niger Delta Agitators Threaten Fresh Oil War, Ask Buhari to Restrain Amaechi

Activists in Niger -Delta, weekend, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to put the Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi, under control before he plunges the nation into another full-blown oil war.

The campaigners under the auspices of 21st Century Youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience, in a statement by self-styled “General” Izon Ebi, said, “This will happen if our rights, aspiration and determination of the people to use their PVCs to choose or elect our preferred candidate and representatives are further trampled upon.”

Niger Delta Amnesty Project Probe

The inauguration of a special panel by the Federal Government to probe alleged looting of assets of the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme is a warning signal that all is not well with a programme that was meant to defuse militancy in the restive Niger Delta region.

While government is committed to making life better for the people of the Niger Delta, some unscrupulous elements are frustrating the good intentions of government and by so doing stoking fire of avoidable violence.
